PROTECT-IP is a bill that has been introduced in the Senate and the House and is moving quickly through Congress. It gives the government and corporations the ability to censor the net, in the name of protecting "creativity". The law would let the government or corporations censor entire sites-- they just have to convince a judge that the site is "dedicated to copyright infringement."

The government has already wrongly shut down sites without any recourse to the site owner.
Under this bill, sharing a video with anything copyrighted in it, or what sites like Youtube and Twitter do, would be considered illegal behavior according to this bill.

The bill defines infringement as distribution of illegal copies, counterfeit goods, or anti-digital rights management technology. Infringement exists if "facts or circumstances suggest [the site] is used, primarily as a means for engaging in, enabling, or facilitating the activities described."The bill says that it does not alter existing substantive trademark or copyright law. The bill provides for "enhancing enforcement against rogue websites operated and registered overseas" and authorizes the United States Department of Justice to seek a court order in rem against websites dedicated to infringing activities, if through due diligence, an individual owner or operator cannot be located.

The PROTECT IP Act says that an "information location tool shall take technically feasible and reasonable measures, as expeditiously as possible, to remove or disable access to the Internet site associated with the domain name set forth in the order". In addition, it must delete all hyperlinks to the offending "Internet site".

Technical objections to DNS blocking and redirection
The bill originally contained measures which would allow the stripping of rogue websites out of the Internet’s virtual "phone book." Under what is technically known as Domain Name System (DNS) blocking, if a user entered the web address of a rogue site, it would appear the site did not exist.

Long time no look post, right? Well, do forgive the mild hiatus, I’ve been busy — VERY busy. I know I have been using that as an “excuse”, haha! But seriously I really have been, but starting today, I will give extra time to my first love, which is blogging. SO! With that let’s get this started shall we?

Bustiers are back for summer, and no doubt they are a tricky piece of clothing. Don’t fear them, they can easily be worn in a tasteful manner that is appropriate for work, family functions, etc.

Lately, I've been addicted with Bustier tops and dresses. I feel sexy wearing them. Just an FYI..

Bustier - a form-fitting garment for women, which is traditionally worn as lingerie. Its primary purpose is to push up the bust by tightening against the upper midriff and forcing the breasts up, while gently shaping the waist. Nowadays, it might also be worn as a push-up bra under a low-backed dress, or as a camisole for outer wear. The bustier can also be worn as a half-slip under diaphanous upper garments if a bold display of the midriff is not desired.

A bustier resembles a basque, but is shorter. It reaches down only to the ribs or waist.

Modern bustiers are often made with mesh panels rather than the traditional boning.

Trip to Cebu South - New Year Special

It's family tradition that every New Year we visit the church and travel around Cebu.

When the holidays come, you should not miss visiting one great expedition that will let you appreciate the spectacles of nature. Exploring Cebu Island’s many wonders with a trip that will bring you to the southern part of this unspoiled island. Fascinating coastal roads, amazing mountain views and landscapes!

This year we decided to visit Simala Shrine in Lindogon, Sibonga. People from all walks of life come not just to pray for divine intervention, give thanks for their blessings or revisit their faith but to see what is clearly an architectural wonder in Cebu south. It is built on the side of a hill with a design reminiscent of European cathedrals. The shrine, even though evidently under construction when I went there last May this year, is magnificence for the eye - just a perfect house for the Miraculous Mother Mary of Simala which is run by the Marian monks. We have visited the place several times already but every visit it's like the first time.

We ate our lunch at Argao Nature Park.

With a very economical entrance fee, for only 5 pesos, you will be surprised at what this park has to offer. You can get attached with the natural beauty of the environment, its forest feel, this is definitely a perfect place to unwind. Holidays would surely be more worthwhile as you spend time communing with nature.Have a grand time once you reach the Nature Park as you can do a lot of activities inside. River cruising, Kayaking or boating, Wall Climbing, all of these adventures will surely be fun as you get in touch with nature. An opportunity to watch the animals live in Argao Zoo is another experience you should not miss once you visit Argao Nature Park. And lastly, the ever-fun zipline which will make you shriek and yelp will surely be a one-of-a-kind holiday memory.

After strolling around, take a boat ride in their small fishpond for only P5.00.For added adventure, you may want to do some wall climbing that only costs P10.00 per climb. For the brave ones, the park also offers zip lining for only P20.00.
It’s not too high but it can surely get your adrenaline pumping.

I have phobia on heights but I will miss the fun if I will try one adventure.
Zipline is not available that time so I choose Canopy.

Both nature lovers and adventure seekers would appreciate Argao Nature Park. When you get inside, you will experience nature at its best plus more. Santander

You have probably heard about the famous beaches of Cebu. One of the accessible diving spots is located in Santander with its close proximity to the famouse Apo Island, Pescador, Sumilon, and Siquijor.

Behind me is Negros City.

The second to the last town in southeastern Cebu, it is rustic and surrounded by barren hills and the blue sea. Its main attraction however is the Fortress Church of Immaculada Concepcion. This massive church was most likely served also as a fortres due to its thick butresses and massive walls and tall bell tower, much similar to those back in Iloilo and Ilocos. One of the legacies of Fray Bermejo, (who is famous for creating a security network of watchtowers and fortress churches in south Cebu to protect the residents from marauding Moros of the south) it is one of the few churches that has a seal of the King of Spain.

Ever wondered why Cebu is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines? Well, aside from the fact that it is dubbed as the IT hub, it’s main attractions include its friendly people, bustling economy, and lets not forget the fact that Cebu is also teeming with great historical sites to feast your eyes on. The local municipalities are easily considered a great haven for photographers looking for old buildings exuding so much culture and history.

I find rare joy in driving aimlessly, not really having any specific destination in mind, and yes, no need to keep track of time. Literally leaving all worries behind, well at least for a day.

Enjoying not only the moments of today, but also imparting a great treasure and lesson for your family and loved ones with the splendid beauty of Cebu is surely gratifying.

Aquanaut at Portofino Beach Resort

Aquanaut? hmmm is that an astronaut underwater?

Well, Aquanaut derives from the Latin word aqua ("water") plus the Greek nautes ("sailor"), by analogy to the similar construction "astronaut". An Aquanaut is any individual who remains underwater, exposed to the ambient pressure, long enough to come into equilibrium with his or her breathing media. Usually this is done in an underwater habitat on the seafloor for a period equal to or greater than 24 continuous hours without returning to the surface. Aquanaut offers seawalking in Mactan.

During our stay at Portofino Beach Resort we tried walking underwater.

Underwater sea walking in Mactan island is one of the many fun adventures enjoyed by foreign tourists in the tropical island paradise. One can feel being one with nature as one will see live fishes in different sizes and radiant colors, gardens of corals and many other marine creatures.

It's amazing under seawater experience is now being customized and made affordable for local residents and domestic tourist by Aquanaut, a new company based at Portofino Beach Resort in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

Naoki Ono, general manager of Aquanaut, said he had observed that mostly only foreign tourists in a packaged tour availed themselves of this life changing experience by just walking and breathing normally underwater.

“This is the Philippines, this is Cebu. So the locals must also enjoy the beauty of nature in this island which has long been shared and enjoyed by foreign guests,” said Ono, a Japanese national who has been residing in Cebu for more than a decade now.

He said Aquanaut offers safe and easy sea walker gadgets with each walker being guided by well-trained and experienced Filipino divers in a 15-minute walk on the seafloor of about four-meter deep just a few meters away from Portofino shoreline. The main sea walker gadget is a helmet with a hose connected to an equipment in the boat that supplies plain air (oxygen).

To experience this different kind of adventure in Mactan island. The entire experience will cost about P1,200 per person. If you want photos underwater just add P350 per CD.

Lovin' the Beach

My family celebrated Christmas in special way. We went to Portofino Beach Resort, one of the foremost beaches located in Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island, Cebu. It is just a few minutes ride from the International Airport in Mactan, approximately around 30 minutes.

This resort is famous of its white sand beaches and water sports activities that includes banana boat ride, wind surfing, jet skiing, snorkeling and diving. They have amenities like the beach point lounge where it served delicious Philippine and international cuisines. One can also avail diving lessons and gear rentals at a very affordable price, and you can do island hopping in the nearby islands too. Your children can enjoy swimming in their swimming pool at a very minimal price.

HOW TO GET THERE

There are at least 4 different ways to get to Portofino Beach Resort:

Private car: Follow the directions on the map above.

Taxi: Take a taxi from Cebu City. It costs around P200 and takes about 45 minutes from the city center. If you are coming from the airport, it will only take less than 30 minutes.

V-Hire*: Take a v-hire from SM or Ayala terminal to Lapu-Lapu. It costs about P25 per person. When you get to Lapu-Lapu, City, take a tricycle to Portofino Resort (it costs about P50-100).

Jeep: From SM or Ayala jeep terminals, take a jeep going to Hi-way Mandaue, then take a jeep going to Punta Engano (tell the driver to drop you off at the Barangay Angasil road going to Portofino Resort). Then lastly, take a motorcycle to the resort.

Shuttle bus: There are supposedly scheduled shuttle buses leaving the North bus terminal everyday going to Lapu-Lapu City. This information still needs to be verified, so check back for updates.

By the way they have resort entrance fee for persons who won't stay overnight. Cottages are available for those who would want to stay behind and enjoy the fresh air in the evenings. If you will just stay for the day, you can simply rent tents and kiosk with some few tables and chairs for a reasonable price. Portofino is the place where you can relax and stay away from the noisy and busy life in the city. The resort is really inexpensive and maybe that's the reason why local tourist would come and visit the place during the weekends.

The beach is actually great but quite rocky so you better wear slippers when in water. Taking pictures is not a problem because there are nice views everywhere. If you get bored and still have lots of cash, you can try their activites like the Aquanaut (same as Helmet Diving of Boracay) and zipline over the sea. I need to take it off because Aquanaut is next... blogging soon :)

Tips for the Perfect Cheek!

Color suggestions.

If you have a fair complexion try a pale pink or peach blush. Stay away from rich or dark colors. Pale pinks or peach will brighten your complexion without looking unnatural.

If you have an olive complexion you may want to try a deep peachy-pink blush. Deep peachy pinks will highlight and bring out your natural 'flush'. You can also get a beautiful effect by mixing a little pink blush with bronzer - beautiful!

If you have a tawny (or tanned) complexion you might try a golden pink or peachy blush. These compliment yellow undertones and look very natural.

If you have a dark complexion think in shades of rich berry, deep purples, deep rose. Stay away from light or pale shades that will wash you out. The rich deep shades will look very natural and compliment your dark skin!

Work with bronzer.

Since mineral bronzers are so natural looking, more and more people are using them with their blush to acheive a very natural effect.

You can apply bronzer before or after your blush, mix it with blush, use it alone as a blush, or use it to tone down your blush.

Blush application.

When applying mineral blush, keep in mind that you only need the slightest amount to achieve a beautiful and natural effect. (This is not regular powder blush.)

Just barely touching the blush, use your brush to "grab" a tiny amount from the container, swirl the bristles in the lid (or container of your choice), and then tap off all the excess.

For an "apple of cheeks" look, smile and sweep the blush from the apple of your cheeks up to your hairline, ending at your temples.

Then for a face lift, work the blush brush back and forth outside the eye area so that the strongest point of color is there.

For a more "cheek bone" look, apply bronzer over your blush (or alone) blending upwards just along your cheek bones...

Expert tip: Feel free to experiment with different ways of shading. Makeup artist Shane Paish suggests in InStyle, to try a C-shape shading. To do this, apply a sheer highlighting powder in a c-shape from your temples to your cheekbones. It should go from the center of your brow bone to the center of your cheek, Paish said, "like the shape of a parenthesis."

Tips:Clean your brushes with baby wipes. If you don't keep your brushes clean, they'll gather bacteria and transfer it to your skin. For a sexy look, dab a little shimmery blush on the highest point of your cheekbone nearest your eye. Using powder blush? Always sweep it in one direction. Going over and over or around and around causes streaks and can hurt your brush. Cream blush is great for mature skin. It blends easily and therefore looks very natural. For gel or cream blush, dab a dot on the apple of the cheek and two smaller dots up the cheekbone. Blend the dots together up to the hairline. Dusky pink blush will warm up any tired-looking skin.

EXERCISES FOR PERFECT CHEEK BONES

Smile Pushups - In "Rawsome Flex," facial exercise authority Tonya Zavasta recommends doing "smile pushups" which will lift the middle of your face and build the muscles in your cheeks to give more prominent cheekbones. Sit in front of a mirror and, keeping your mouth closed, first pout, then smile, then suck your cheeks into your jaw. Repeat this until your muscles are burning.

Perfect Pout - Maintaining perfect cheekbones relies on developing and maintaining the cushion of muscle beneath your skin, which naturally diminishes with aging. To combat this sign of aging, close your mouth and push your lips out in a pout, checking that your cheek muscles are engaged. Hold for a count of 10, then relax, and repeat 10 times.

Hand-Press - A simple, effective exercise for perfect cheekbones is based on yoga and meditation practices. Press the heels of your hand firmly against your cheekbones and hold them there while opening and closing your mouth. Repeat this 10 times to help firm and tighten your facial muscles.

Rapunzel at 6 months

Hi everyone!

Sorry for such a belated entry - it's been almost four months since my last update about Rapunzel and now she is already 6 months old.

My vet friend, Bry asked me if I am interested to have a pug. Just for the hell of it.... I research more about pugs. Well it didn't take long for me to make the decision and 2 weeks later, Rapunzel arrived and she fit right into the household immediately.

Our old life was over. In three short months, Rapunzel, had undeniably become the sun around which we orbited. She was my first. And the timing couldn’t have been more perfect - our newly emptied nest had left me free but floundering. Now, for the first time, I saw the world as my oyster...how could I have known a cobby little dog would turn out to be my pearl?

Why are Pugs so popular?

Could it be their good looks or unmistakable charm? What is so darn irresistible about those Pugs? Ask anyone who has ever known a Pug and they will tell you there is no other dog that compares. But why?

Pugs are different. They possess all the qualities of a big dog in a little dog body. They are big enough to not be annoying and small enough for any size house. Perhaps their motto best describes them. Multum in Parvo - "a lot of dog in a small space."

The Motorola Backflip is like no other Android phone I’ve seen, thanks to its reverse flip design.

On Our Way Home From Bantayan Island

My first stay at Bantayan Island was at Tristan’s Resort. They are a beach front hotel and restaurant. With their open air cafe, right on the water it is an amazingly awesome place to sit and do nothing while listening to the sounds of the ocean to surround you in serenity.

As soon as you step foot onto Tristan’s resort, the magic begins when your feet settle softly into the white sand that make up the walkways of the hotel and restaurant. The restaurant is open air and faces out to the sea. It provides ample shade to keep the sun from beating down on you but allows the breeze to come through keeping me quite cool. The food at Tristan’s is the best!

We had Pizza for about P290 and it was build your own. Unlike so many places, they didn’t limit me to the choices on the menu. The pizza is a little cheaper. I just don’ t need to eat that much. The pork chops and most other entrees were around P200 each.

The owner of the resort is Nancy and she is attentive as they come. Tristan’s has these wonderful bamboo reclining chairs that I love too sit in for hours and soak up the cool breeze off the Visayan Sea. Tristan’s is right on the beach except at high tide when the beach sometimes is replaced with water licking the steps of the resort.

The cost of Tristan’s is quite low. If you can get room one or two, you might pay a little more for those but they have a ref (refrigerator) and air con. I think all of their rooms have air con though. They don’t have hot water but I’ve never been there or any where else on the island where that is needed. The water is warm right out of the tap. During Holy Week the price will be much higher, if you can get a room at all. Unless you book it well in advance, you will not be able to get a room at all any where on the island during Holy Week.

The front desk is also made of bamboo. The walls are made of a concrete but decorated with dried leaves that have been woven together. Tristan’s is an excellent place to stay, especially if you plan to spend most of your time out of your room. The rooms are small but it didn’t have any effect on my stay.

Tristan’s is all about a peaceful place of rest.

We are almost late because we thought it's scheduled 4:00 PM.

We were literally running so fast. It was a funny scene!

Town of Bantayan Island

After we went to the Omagieca Mangrove Garden we decided to visit the town to purchase their famous dried fish as "Pasalubong" (gifts).

Bantayan Town is just 20 minutes north-west of Santa Fe.

There are hotels and apartelle that has rooms in all for budget accommodation, both aircon & fan.

Restaurants are all over the place. Which knows good food & hospitality in this modern, quaint little place and has delicious inexpensive dishes (my favorites: Calzones P50 - thick pastry crust filled with delicious seasoned ground beef that tastes like a good spicy taco in a much thicker crust, spaghetti P40, burgers P25, cheeseburgers P35, and a great Mango Shake P25)

They’re also quite famous for their desserts & pastries, and have a huge catalog of upscale pastries & cakes you can order, priced at P200 to P800 - you absolutely have to try the desserts!

At over 427 years old, the beautiful Saint Peter & Paul's is a must see for visitors.

Omagieca Mangrove Garden - Bantayan Island

The mangrove forests at OMAGIECA or the Obo-ob Mangrove Garden Integrated Ecotourism and Conservation Association is a community-based eco-tourism initiative. It is located in between Sta. Fe and the Bantayan town proper. This was referred to us by Ms. Nancy whom we met while roaming around the town plaza. At OMAGIECA, we went through elevated bamboo walkways that weave through the dense mangrove forest.

We are really amazed with the beauty of the place.
I feel so blessed to experience to be here.
There is an entrance fee cost Php 20 per head.
It was a challenge for me to walk on bamboo walkways because I got phobia on heights.
I was looking down the whole time and slowly walk on walkways.

We already cross the first stop.

There is a bamboo house where you can take a rest.

You can imagine how happy we are.

The sandbar with white, light brown sand glistened under the sun and looked like it is floating above the azure water.We gave in to the urge and don our board shorts and ran to the sandbars to while away the morning.

The sandbar seemed to be a magical divide separating the beach from the open sea.

A lone fishing boat passed us by as we lay on the sandbar.

A few hours passed and the changing tide meant we had to say goodbye to the sandbar, albeit temporarily, knowing it will be there waiting for us the next day.

Kinda hungry so we need to eat.

Skimboarding at Bantayan Island

Full moon is the best moon phase for big waves.

It’s not the phase of the moon that makes a difference but the location with respect to the earth. When the moon is closest it causes the largest tides, but wave height is dependent on the transference of power from the waves sideways motion to the vertical motion, which is dependent on the shallowness of the water. I’m not willing to do a full analysis and I’m not an expert on the area of tidal power so I don’t know it off the top of my head but I can say this

When the moon is closer to the earth, more water is drawn towards it and thus a higher tide. This means the water is deeper in most places and wouldn't transfer as much energy to a vertical motion (waves wouldn’t slow down as much going towards shore).

When the moon is farther away, less water is drawing towards it and thus a shallower tide. This means water is shallower and more energy goes into slowing down and raising in height.

Edit: to clarify the above, how a New Moon makes the ocean look calm, it is because there is less light reflecting off the choppy surface than normal so it appears to be still.

Since we have perfect waves and best spot for the activity. I decided to do some little action that evening. One of the most usual activity that you'll be seeing in Bantayan Island is skim boarding. It's boardsport requires a beach that has a flat surface where the board can smoothly slide and Bantayan Island has it.

We used the board for free from the resort. The board used for this is thinner than the usual board used for surfing and other board sport. A skimboard usually cost between P1,500 - P5,000 (around $30 - $100) .But you can buy the ones locally made at a cheaper price.

It requires a lot of practice to master it because it's not just about running, throwing the board and jumping on it. you need balance, timing and focus. Once you've mastered it, you can already do some special moves like boarding on it upside down or at least jump over a ramp..

For people who has a sporty soul, is it worth trying? yes.

So here I am and Bim trying hard to ride the waves... :)

Virgin Island - Bantayan Island

A Trip what is always worth, when you are on vacation on Bantayan Island, is to get to Virgin Island. It is a small Island north east of Santa Fe. The Island with a tiny bay in the north and a beautiful beach in south has almost only a very small population. Some Caretaker fit for years on the island which is usually at a bargain price of 8 million U.S. dollars for sale. At least that means only the rumour mill. And again nobody knows how accurate this information are, because nobody is interested when he wants to spent a beautiful day on the Island. You can rent a boat from the fishermen, almost everywhere, but you should really never take more than 2 people in small boats because they are not designed for this. Anyway, the price difference between small fisher boats and big boats is very low. Recommended is the big boat from “Bantayan Cottages” near the port that can carry 15-25 people and offer the best price for 1500 pesos. (Small fishing boats cost an average of 1000 pesos and are not nearly as comfortable to sit).

There's no Hotel/Resort accommodation on Virgin Island, but for a wonderful afternoon trip it's hard to beat - and there are small, shaded picnic tables available on the beach for small groups of people to enjoy, and of course the sandy White Beach & Turquiose Water make for a real tropical Get-A-Way!

After a boat ride of about 30 minutes to get to the little left Island. Fine powder sand beach of the finest greeted each newcomer and invites you to stay. There are small cottages on Virgin Island where you can relax and public grill places where people can prepare meals. Often some fishermen offer small fish or shells, but you should not rely on it. Who here likes to barbecue itself should either be self sufficient in the market of Bantayan, or order it at the boat rental. The crew will also cook the dinner when they get a little something from, and are also very helpful in everything else. Snorkelling on Virgin Island is well suited, but you should not expect too much because by the currents there are not that many corals. Fun anyway.

I am so proud that I found a clown fish in the corals.. hehe

It is a breathtaking location that is perfect for my concept driven prenuptial shoot. The place is usually packed with a lot of people especially during the holy week.

It should be noted that you still go back to at least 4:30 pm to 4:45 pm so you can enjoy a beautiful sunset from the boat. Here it’s most familiar to talk to the boat crew to raise the good places.

On Our Way to Bantayan Island

It was my first time visiting the Island, I am so damn excited about it.

We prepared about 3 months planning this trip.

It's also very old fashioned and peaceful on Bantayan Island, and life is much slower here as there are no big city shopping malls, hotel chains, mega movie theaters or metro discos, etc.

Island Life here is slower and more relaxing, but that’s really the beauty of it all, as some roads are still yet to be paved, and locals who farm & raise livestock live very simply in bamboo & coco wood houses; the warmth and friendliness of the local people here only serves to make Bantayan a more unique and very special place for all who visit.

Bantayan is an island in the Philippines located at the western portion of the northern tip of Cebu Island. It is politically a part of the Province of Cebu.

The island can be reached via bus from Cebu City (via the North Bus Terminal near SM City Shopping Mall) then via ferry from Hagnaya Wharf in Hagnaya Cebu, or from Sagay in Negros Occidental. No commercial flights or overnight ferries are currently operating from Cebu City. It is possible to charter small private aircraft from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, to Bantayan Airport on Bantayan Island.

The island is composed of three municipalities:

Bantayan, Cebu

Madridejos, Cebu

Santa Fe, Cebu

As of the 2000 census, the island had a total population of 120,101.

We meet at Cebu North Bus Terminal at around 3:00 AM Saturday.

PINK Lipstick!!!

I’ve never been a pink lipstick fan (because it doesn’t seem to coordinate with my everyday look), but that doesn’t keep me from trying out playful lipstick colors. Pink pout is a slightly deeper shade of the light pink color. It’s actually pretty cute.

I’m loving the Barbie pink lip. It’s such a fun, poppy colour that is perfect with Katy Perry’s skin tone and jet-black hair. Her makeup artist must be a bit of a genius because her blush is the perfect shade of pink and complements her lips flawlessly.

“Katy Perry loves bright and feminine colors,” says makeup artist Jake Bailey, who worked with the star on her recent “Waking Up in Vegas” video. The bold lipsticks from Max Factor’s Vivid Impact collection, especially Ms. Understood and Pin-Up Pink, complement her young and fun style. They’re long lasting yet light in texture, making it comfortable for her to wear during the 18-hour days.

A mistake often made with bright lipstick is that women either wear too much, or too little blush. While you don’t want the two wrestling for attention, you do need colour on your cheeks to offset the brightness on your lips. Katy demonstrates this perfectly.

Revlon Matte Lipsticks. This is the very first matte lipstick brand that I used, and I LIKE IT! For a mass-brand lipstick, this one isn’t that bad. Every application promises a full-matte-color finish. And this one doesn’t make my lips dry at all. I’m not sure in other girls’ cases but this definitely works for me. It’s the type of matte lipstick that can be used everyday. This one is actually my 3rd favorite matte lipstick brand.

Revlon Matte Lipsticks only cost Php 475 per tube on all Department Stores. Not bad, considering the good quality and finish of the product. I actually have finished 1 tube already.

The shades are perfect for Asian skin tone.
I love Sky Pink which is the second shade, it's perfect for me!
I tend to shy away from matte lipsticks because they always seem to look chalky and accentuate any dryness your lips may have. These lipsticks don't do that! They are the most moisturizing matte lipsticks I have tried, and the longest wearing lipstick I have tried from any brand, not including special "long wear" staining formulas. This lipstick wears 4-5 hours on me, easily, with the occasional sip from a water bottle, etc. That is a long time for me, considering most non-long-wearing lipsticks always seem to be nonexistent after 3 hours tops.

I highly, highly recommend these if you are looking for a good matte lipstick. For the price, they really are hard to beat!

I used to wonder what it’d be like to cuddle with the person you love. Now that I know what it’s like, it’s all I want to do. Sigh, why am I laying in bed alone right now.

So I’m really starting to dislike this whole thing called “being single.” Sure it’s okay for maybe the first month or so, but after awhile, it drains you. After a couple months of being single, it makes you think like is it because no one is interested in me or what? Am I not good enough for anyone to even “like” on more than a friendship level? I hate not having that person to cuddle with, to kiss, to make memories with. I want to have that someone that I can feel a connection with, and to feel like I mean something more than just friendship to. I want to have someone that I can go show up unexpectedly to see them or do random things just to see them smile. I want to have someone that I can always just smile from thinking of them. I want to have someone to send a good morning text to whenever I wake up. I don’t care what people say about “being single” is good and so stress free and without drama or whatever. To me, the positives of being in a relationship completely outweigh any of the negatives...

So today’s one of those days where I have nothing to do (well, nothing that needs to be done), so I have nothing better to do than sit here shivering because my room has two temperatures: cold and freezing. And then I think about life which isn’t even that bad but I make myself feel worse and worse. It doesn’t help that most of my friends are in some sort of relationship and being the desperate person I am, I can’t help but feel slightly jealous and happy for them. It’s mostly because I have no one to connect to. Even though I love hanging out with them, I can’t help but feel kind of alone. I mean, I appreciate a good looking guy as much as the next person, but I don’t feel sexually attracted and it’s just a bit weird sometimes. I wish I had someone to talk to. (I just want someone to cuddle, darn it!) And most people right now are out being productive so I don’t even want to bother them to hang out with me. So then I decide that the only way to solve this problem is with a nap.

OFF THE STREET

To all Cebuanos out there, there will be a charity event that’ll be held at The Penthouse on October 6, 2011 featuring Cebuano personalities and few known designers to help raise money for the “Mobile School Foundation” for the street kids around Cebu. If you had that deep helpless feeling in your heart to do something about it, this is a little way of doing so.

A bit of background as quoted from one of the organizers:

The Mobile School Foundation is a government funded organization under the Cebu City Task Force for Street Children and was established in the year 1994 seeking to grant less privileged and abandoned children a chance to have an education. Since then, the foundation has benefited 5,904 daycare children and has sent 500 students to formal education.

So basically, these children are the ones we see on the streets and 5x in a week, this foundation goes to 5 different barangay’s to pick children up who want to learn. They’re transported via Kaoshung Bus (just 2) and one (1) Japanese donated bus that serves as their “library”. They entertain about 100-150 children a day which ousts the 2-4 teachers they only have.

It’ll be best if we can gather large amount of people.

Taoist Temple

It's Friday.
Ate Karel and Mommy Mar invited me to visit Taoist Temple.

As you visit Cebu, review your checklist of the places to see, and make sure you don't miss going to the higher part of the city, where the astonishing architecture of Taoist Temple can be found.

This work of art is located in the wealthy residential community of Beverly Hills about 6 km north of downtown Cebu. This temple is said to be preserving the teachings of Lao-Tse, the 600 B.C. Chinese philosopher. A soaring, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes. Attractions here consist of a huge colorful dragon, a replica of the Great Wall of China, spacious balconies offering scenic views, souvenir shops, mini library with instructional materials, and dozens of escalating steps.

You can see Taoist devotees following their rituals on Wednesdays and Sundays, as they climb the 99 steps of the temple to light joss sticks and have their fortunes read by the monks.
And if you climb the 99 steps to the entrance, you will be rewarded with a good view of Cebu City and in the distance Mactan and Bohol islands. Nice sunset views too.

The temple is the center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tze. Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple, the Taoist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. The ritual includes washing of hands, going inside the chapel barefoot and dropping two blocks of wood. If the blocks of wood are both face up then one could make a wish. If not then it is not yet the time for one's wish to be granted and one has to come to the temple some other time.

It was built by Cebu’s substantial Chinese community, incidentally making up about 15% of Cebu’s population. Everyday people climb its 99 steps to light joss sticks and have their fortune read.

The entrance to the temple is a replica of the Great Wall of China. The temple includes a chapel, a library, a souvenir shop and a wishing well.

The spacious balconies offer a scenic view of the downtown Cebu.

Taoist architecture includes a number of structures according to its functions, categorized as palace for oblation and sacrifice, altar for praying and offering, cubby for religious service, and garden for visitors.

Really a quote to think about. How can that be in the first place: there is no rush and no hurry, but everything works out. Grass does not try to grow, it just grows. It also has the very practical meaning of breaking huge projects down into small and doable tasks, that then can be executed more easily.

In my opinion this is Lao Tzu’s expression of “intentions manifesting” or “thoughts become things”, which is also discusses widely as the secret or the law of attraction. But it is really a much more elegant way to put it :)

All you need to really find yourself is to look inside. It reminds me of what Eckhart Tolle said at the beginning of The Power of Now: Those who have not found their true wealth, which is the radiant joy of Being and the deep, unshakable peace that comes with it, are beggars, even if they have great material wealth.

I’ve decided I’m going to learn how to make my own happiness.

All of these outside external things are temporary- inside is what matters.

Yes I smile a lot. Who cares?! This doesn’t mean I’m an airhead.

Yes I enjoy writing- who care if I’m not Shakespeare caliber. I have my own unique style.

I’ve always been the easy-going type. I’m very positive and easy to get along with. I thought I was a just good person but lately I’ve realized I’m a full-blown people pleaser and always want everyone around me to be happy. I often can’t say ‘NO’ to people without feeling bad or guilty.

This past month I’ve said ‘YES’ to a lot of things and have been feeling completely overwhelmed- I’ve been working doubles at different jobs and have barely had a moment to myself.

As a people pleaser, when I tried to please everyone, I ended up pleasing nobody.

I got tired from the burnout that came from over extending myself and frustrated by the fact I let people take advantage of me- I quickly became ineffective in helping others and started resenting people around me.

This past week I had to step back and re-assess everything. I told people ‘No’ for the first time and even had to tell someone who I initial told ‘yes’ that I really couldn’t do it. As scary as this was it felt quite liberating. I went through my life and decided what I could (and wanted) to do and then made an effort to only do those thing.

I loved blogging. I loved spending time with family/friend. And with my schedule I wasn’t able to do ANY of that.

I understand the need to work and make money (I’m not saying to cut all of this out)

But I learned this past week to clarify my need and say ‘No’ and to be a little selfish and do what was best for me.

Here’s a few things I learned this week:

1) You have to know yourself and want you want- then you can learn to make the right choices for yourself!

2) Be responsible for you life- you make the decisions- power of choice!

3) Set Healthly Boundaries

4) It is MUCH better to say ‘No’ then to originally say ‘Yes’ and not follow through

People pleasers need to learn to stand up for themselves –’Saying yes is easy, saying no is a skill.’

Sometimes you have to learn to LOVE yourself and be a little selfish to know and chose what you want out of life!

Mary Kay make-up is my new best friend.

My Mary Kay orders just arrived! Yey! I’ve been using a lot of their product samples since my mom personally use them and I also read a lot of reviews for this brand and they all loved the product and I’m loving them too! I am not saying this because my mom loves them, but we all use their products even my sisters! My mom has almost ALL of their skin care products and she loves them, my sisters uses Acne-Prone products, me I’ve tried their TimeWise Foundation, Concealer, Lip Creme, Mineral Eye makeup, Microdermabrasion set and MelaCep Night Cream. I’ve only used their samples since its free , the only product that’s not in sample was the concealer. Anyway, I’ll just have an extensive reviews on each product ASAP but for now….

TimeWise Luminous Foundation in Beige 2 -I told you I’ve tried this one before but I tried the Matte which is not for my skin type because it’s for oily skin. Creamy so I only use small amount on my face. Best of all, NO HEAVY FEELING, feels like you don't even have it on!
Concealer in Beige 2 - very creamy, I only use dot-size for my dark circles
Brow Definer in Brunette - Glides smoothly, soft but not brittle
Creme Lipstick in Sunset - very pigmented and creamy so it doesn't fade unless you eat a lot
Nourishine Lip Gloss in Pink Diamonds - a bit sticky but it doesn’t fade quickly too
MelaCep Foaming Cleanser Whitening System - It’s for reducing dark spots and even and brigther skin tone. I’ve tried the sample for about a week and I fell in love with the product so I decided to buy one.
TimeWise Eye Revitalizer - for dark circles just like the eye roll on of garnier. I just used this since last night so I don't know if it’s effective or what. But I love the cool, relaxing feeling it gives on my eyes
I didn't experience any breakouts in using any of their products, but I’m not saying it’s applicable to all of you guys. Using any products, Mary Kay or not is like taking the risks. Not everyone has same skin situation and “hiyang”…

More to come! I love their skin care products most. As for the makeup, I think I’ll have more of their Lipstick and stick to their foundation (really nice), concealer and the pencil. I dont like their eye makeup because I dont like the packaging HAHA!
